Design X-press - Fully aware of our impact on others and our responsibility to each other
In 2011 Design X-press was proud to have gained ISO accreditation in both Envionmental (14001) and Quality (9001) standards.
Setting strict targets for reducing the amount of waste and energy consumption Design Xpress is accredited with ISO14001. This confirms we are conducting effective Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
Having won a two-year contract with Durham County Council, the company opted to achieve the standards to meet the council’s requirements. Beyond securing this contract, the ISO certification has opened doors for Design X-press to offer its services to other large-scale clients.
“For us, it’s all about driving our business forward with an emphasis on quality and our environmental impact,” says Carl Gerry, Production Manager and newly appointed Quality Manager at Design X-press.
Since going through the ISO assessment and certification process, Design X-press has seen real benefits in the form of cost savings and a reduction of waste.
“We have introduced standard ops throughout the business and have seen a real reduction in our waste costs. Everything is getting recycled in a more controlled way and the quality systems we have in place are reducing error. We’ve also seen significant reductions in our lead times, because we are all following the new quality procedures,” says Mr Gerry.
By using the ISO manuals as guidelines for running their business and delivering their services, Design X-press are taking a step ahead of their competitors.
The company was founded in 1995 by Managing Director Juliette Middlebrough, who still plays an active role in the running of the business. She has also recently invested 2 Latex printers which offer green ink systems, further reducing Design X-press’ environmental impact.
